Unique Aspects:
I have driven past this little spot many times before, but with it being nestled up in Oranjezicht it has to a large extent fallen out of my commonly visited areas and as such has been a little neglected by me and possibly many others for the same reason.
The restaurant/deli serves your typical daily eats which can not be faulted, the food was very good and the prices too are very reasonable. The one slightly disappointing facet was the service. Although extremely friendly with lots to say, the waiter seemed to forget about actually serving us as customers, taking extremely long to bring any simple drink orders or the bill and seeming somewhat confused when ordering items off the menu exactly how they were written, however this was likely a once-off so not something I wish to harbour on.
In terms of the positioning of the restaurant, with it being up in Oranjezicht, I would highly recommend sitting inside or in the protected outside section, as the notorious Cape Town wind can make sitting outside fairly unpleasant, with gale force winds turning your menus in to frisbees and as such your coffees in to potential 3rd degree burns.
Carlucci’s appears to be one of those spots which not only acts as a restaurant but also services those living in and around it with specialty meats, cheeses, bakery items, ready to cook meals and a whole lot of other “nik-naks”, which adds another nice dimension to this little Italian themed spot.
If you are looking for a chilled out place to have a bite to eat on a weekend morning, then Carlucci’s should definitely be on your list.
